Today I decided to launch the website for Curls Connect! It still needs some updates but I really wanted to launch in October.
This is my first post on my blog. Firstly, let me tell you a bit about myself and why I decided to launch Curls Connect.
My name is Devi Ramberran-Narine and I am from the beautiful islands of Trinidad and Tobago. I have curly hair - I'm a mixed chick, locally known as a 'dougla' (Mixed with Afro-Trinidadian and Indo-Trinidadian descent). I believe my curl type is a mixture of 3b and mostly 3c. There are many people in Trinidad and Tobago with wavy, curly or kinky hair- as I like to nickname us Curlies.
I have always been struggling with my curly hair. Many times I just didn't know what to do with it...it seemed like a frizz ball..literally! As I grew older I 'experimented' with hair products..some worked for a short time...others didn't seem to do half of what they said they would for curly hair. I guess many of those hair product manufacturers were struggling with curly hair too!
Finally, I fell in love with my curly hair! There is something about curls :P Some say its romantic. When I met my now husband and he said that he loves my curly hair...that made me look at it in a new perspective- What is he seeing that I'm not!? It couldn't have been the same frizz ball we're talking about right!? LOL
I decided to embrace my curly hair. Unfortunately, that was just half the battle. The other problem was: What do I use on my curly hair? Curlies will know that after 'What is my purpose in Life?' that that question has to be second!
I have tried all sorts of hair products from gels, to mousse to creams..you name it! I did find some products that worked for me like Neutrogena Triple Moisture Leave-in Conditioner and Sunsilk Captivating Curls. But for some strange reason after I find something that works, I just don't find any in the stores or they just stop making it! (At least that's what the clerks tell me). I have even asked people that seem to have tamed their curly locks what products they use.
But I am still looking for that perfect product or combination of products that will help my curly hair be beautiful and frizz-free. So the search continues...
I wondered why should people with curly hair have to struggle just to have beautiful hair. I decided just a few days ago that there must be a way that Curlies can help Curlies. And so I started working on the Curls Connect website: www.curlsconnect.weebly.com
The goal is to bring Curlies together, in order to connect and share information on products, hair salons (those that truly understand curly hair), hairstyles and much more. I will also like to provide a local listing of hair salons and retailers of products for curly hair. I believe together we can really embrace and celebrate our curly hair!
Thank you so much for your support!
